Transportation Construction GIRL Day 2026

More than a thousand girls, dozens of booths, hard hats, heavy equipment, hands-on activities and a whole lot of hot pink. Transportation Construction GIRL Day is one of those events where you can feel the energy the minute you walk through the doors.

This year, all three of us at Juriscend, Jyl Warwick, Karyn Campbell and Jericha Sanchez, spent the day volunteering alongside an incredible group at the American Subcontractors Association of Colorado Women of Construction and Fennemore booth. Together, we created a space where girls could have fun, try something new and picture themselves in future construction careers.

More Than One Day

Transportation & Construction GIRL, an initiative of the HOYA Foundation, works year-round to introduce girls to careers in transportation and construction. TCG Day brings so much of that mission together in one place, giving girls the chance to meet people working in the industry, get hands-on with tools and equipment and discover just how many career paths are available to them.

Helping Girls Picture What’s Possible

Our Director of Marketing & Creative, Jericha Sanchez, serves on the American Subcontractors Association of Colorado Women of Construction committee. This year, ASA Colorado Women of Construction and Fennemore teamed up to co-sponsor our booth. After seeing how popular it was last year, we doubled its size and brought in even more volunteers to help this time!

Together, we wanted the booth to be fun while also getting girls thinking about all the different careers they could pursue in construction.

We created a “Construction Career Zodiac” with a career for every sign based loosely on personality traits, from architect, project manager and civil engineer to welder, plumber, construction lawyer and judge. Of course, the zodiac was just for fun. The girls could completely ignore their sign and choose whichever career sounded most exciting to them!

From there, they picked their props, dressed the part and stepped in front of the camera. With hard hats, blueprints, safety vests, welding helmets, tools, blazers and plenty more to choose from, there was no shortage of inspiration.

Each girl could also pose with a “GIRLS BELONG EVERYWHERE” fan that included a QR code linking directly to the event photo album, making it easy for them to find and download their photos afterward. One girl put on a blazer for her photo and told Jericha,

“I don’t want to take off this jacket. I feel so powerful with it on.”

Jericha immediately told her, “That’s the power of a blazer, girl! You are a boss!” That’s exactly what we hoped the booth could create, even if only for a few minutes. Maybe years from now, one of these girls will be working in an amazing career, come across her photo from TCG Day and remember one of the first times she pictured herself in her future career.

Why Showing Up Matters to Us

As a women-owned business that works alongside construction and trade businesses, being part of this community means more to us than the work we do from our desks. We want to show up and support the people and organizations helping move these industries forward.

We’re incredibly grateful to Keller Hayes for the work she does through Transportation Construction GIRL throughout the year and for continuing to champion girls and women in these industries. A huge thank you as well to Nick Williams and ASA Colorado Women of Construction, Kate Strauss and Fennemore, and every volunteer who helped make the double booth such a fun experience for the girls.

For the three of us at Juriscend, getting to spend the day together supporting that mission was pretty special. We left tired, happy and already talking about next year.
